![]() We go inside only to be informed from the usher, that our seats are upstairs, and somehow the venue escaped needing to follow code. I found a spot a block away and headed back in the deluge. Rather than guide her wheelchair down the city sidewalks in the elements, I dropped both ladies and their walkers off at the front door so that I could look for parking. It was pouring down rain when we arrived and noticed limited parking and none for the disabled. The day started off well with breakfast, massages, wine tasting, dinner and was to be culminated with this concert by one of her favorite bands. It was to be a long weekend full of fun surprises for my girlfriends and I to celebrate one of us turning 74. Rating: 3 out of 5 Extremely disappointed…Not an ADA friendly venue by Debbi H on 1/18/23 Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa. Our kids’ schools have much better sound system. Unfortunately, the theater’s subpar sound system ruined it for us and our friends. The Temptations concert would have been an enjoyable and memorable evening. Rating: 1 out of 5 Uptown Theater’s sound system is garbage! by Dewi on 1/19/23 Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa. ![]() We drove up from Contra Costa County and spent the night in Napa. Otherwise I look forward to returning to the Uptown Theater for future events. Only detractor was the person who arrived late in the next seat, and didn't wear a mask. Overall, a wonderful experience, very personable men, great talent, and I wish I had seen them earlier! (My first time!) Parking was great, seats were very good. Williams talked about Motown, and giving the audience a peek at what it was like to attend the Motown School! One of the members also acknowledged some fans that are regulars, which was quite unusual, and very thoughtful. I thought it was very gracious, and kind. Williams thanked the audience for coming out, and spending their time, money, driving to attend. A nice blend with old favorites, new things, and a very new song which was lovely and with great harmony. I was so impressed that the men were very professional. The Musicians were stellar!! Wonderful band. Rating: 5 out of 5 Fantastic! by Detroit Fan on 1/19/23 Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa. From the dapper suits to the gentlemanly dance moves to note-perfect renditions of all those songs you know by heart, the Temptations Revue is the full Temptations experience, delivered here and now. Evans brings a cast of veteran vocalists to re-create the Temptations' definitive five-part harmonies, and they're accompanied by an eight-piece band that provides proper live musical backing. The Temptations Revue is led by Nate Evans, the singer who was brought into the group decades ago by its founding members. Today, the Temptations Revue carries on the tradition started almost 60 years ago, performing concerts to sold-out crowds across the United States. "My Girl," "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" are among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. The founding members - Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin - were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Their music has earned three Grammys, including the first for Motown for 1969's "Cloud Nine," and in 2013 they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Over the course of their 50-plus-year career, the Temptations released four Billboard Hot 100 No. They're the hit songs of the Temptations, some of the most beloved ever written, performed by musicians who rose out of Detroit to eventually embody the aesthetic of Motown, both the label and the sound. "My Girl." "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." "I Can't Get Next to You." "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." "Just My Imagination." "The Way You Do the Things You Do." "Treat Her Like a Lady." If you're a fan of classic soul music, you know all of them by heart.
